Laure Haines Reese

A classically trained musician, Laurie has free-lanced and performed on cello extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She is as comfortable in the recording studio as she is on stage, having been a professional musician since she was seventeen years old. She earned a Master of Music Performance degree from the University of Southern California and while in Los Angeles, studied advanced classical cello repertoire with Eleanor Schoenfeld. She studied at the University of Miami, Florida earning a Bachelor in Music Performance and played both classical and jazz, regularly with Ira Sullivan and Strings Attached. She also free-lanced with various symphony orchestras, a string quartet and a flute quartet. Following her graduate work in Los Angeles, she moved to Maui, Hawaii to work full-time as a professional musician. While there, she co-founded the Chamber Jazz Maui trio with Jazlynn Woods and Tim O'Hara, performing a repertoire "from Bach to the Beatles." She later spent six months in Seattle then ventured back home to Pennsylvania for what was supposed to be a short visit. 

She currently holds positions as adjunct cello instructor at Millersville University and cello instructor at the Lancaster Conservatory and Beam's Music. She formerly taught at Lebanon Valley College (Adjunct Instructor of Cello), Messiah College (Adjunct Artist, Cello), F&M College (Adjunct Professor of Cello).

She has recorded with The Reese Project, Susquehanna, Wyndfall, Muzette, Gypsophilia, and also with Ira Sullivan and Strings Attached.  Session work includes Jon Anderson's Christmas album, Jesse Yawn, Empty Hats, Arcona Reel Band, OCD Circus, Harmony Hill, Bobbi Carmitchell and many others. Laurie has alo perfomed with the Lancaster and York, PA., Symphony Orchestras,  the Dela'Art Trio and others.

She is happily married to flutist Tom Reese and when not playing music enjoys spending time at home with Tom and their three cats.
