The Reese Project Blue Etude Wyndfall Records
Once in a while a combination of talent, timing, and truth appears out of the aether. The Reese Project’s "Blue Etude" is such a combination. Talent in the blending of instrumentation that plays one instrument off the other, producing the best of Jazz and Blues, creating what I call Blue-Jazz. Each track flows from one into the next with a smooth transitional timing from upbeat jazz/blues compositions to the slower paced traditional blues songs to more romantic melodies. Throughout the entire album, there are reminders of Santana, Jethro Tull, T-Bone Walker, Return To Forever and the obvious classical touches as well as numerous other flashes from the past, but the key factor is that no matter how reminiscent these touches may be; the music remains true as well as original. The diversity found in the varying compositions is sure to catch the ear, but it is the element of surprise that The Reese Project brings to each track that really sets "Blue Etude" apart. This is no ordinary combo/band. They are opening the door on a new genre of musical virtuosity. Their structure is integral, their timing is flawless, and the truth in their composition is self-evident. The Reese Project IS now. Their music IS your tomorrow. Dave Butler: Producer/Host
